Fun time with the Jensens

The Jensen's (My Sister and her family) came to visit us from Minnesota again this summer.  Our family ALWAYS has a blast when they are here.  The kids have so much fun.  One day we went to the park:
Kaylee...my little monkey
Joshua Jensen...water fun
Lexi,, Ali, and Rylie (in the back)
Noah
We also ended up going to Elitch Gardens for two days too.  We had a really good time.

Kaylee's Birthday

Kaylee turned 11 this year.  She loves how her birthday is on 07/11 because she can always go to 7-11 and get a free slurpee.  She chose to have a birthday party at Windsor Beach.  She invited three of her best friends...Kenzie, Cassidy, and Bella.  They had a blast at the beach and then came back to the house for food and play time.  Kaylee chose to have Creme Puffs instead of a cake this year.

Independence Day

Each year we get to attend the Greeley Parade and watch Doug's Marching Band march.  This year Jordan was able to march playing his trumpet.

Elitch Garden Season Passes

This year, instead of a vacation, our family purchased season passes to Elitch Gardens.  The kids had a great time riding all of the amusement park rides.  Elitches occasionally put on a fun show...my kids were able to participate.  So fun.

Jordan's 13th Birthday

I can't believe my baby is turning 13.  He is such a joy to be around.  His giggle is so fun to hear.  This year, Grandma and Grandpa Farr were in town to help us celebrate.  Jordan just loves donuts and so this year he wanted a donut tower instead of a traditional cake.

Jordan went out with his dad on a Father-Son outing.  They went out to eat, to a movie, and he was able to purchase Minecraft on the computer.  He really enjoyed his birthday this year.

(I have a video I was going to upload, but it was too large. I'll have to figure out another way to upload it.)

Jordan is doing great on his progression towards his Eagle.  He really enjoys earning the awards and participating in the Scouting program.

The BIG FOUR ZERO

Yep....there is officially an old guy in our house.  Doug turned the big Four O.  We tried to make it a special day.  After church we had a nice dinner.  Then the fun began.  Doug had to follow clues around the house...
He had several clues to figure out...eventually he had to get in the van and follow more clues from friends...

After about ten houses...the hunt led him back home again for cake, ice cream, and presents.
For his gift (thanks to grandma and grandpa), we were able to enjoy a couple of days away.  We enjoyed a movie and hotel.  We BOTH enjoyed the benefits of his birthday this year.  Happy 40th Doug!

Silver Falcon Singers

This is Kaylee's last concert in the Silver Falcon Singers.  This is an extra curricular singing group that meets two days a week before school.  They have two concerts throughout the school year and they are always so entertaining.  She has been a part of this group for two years now and next year she will be in middle school and no longer be a part of this group.  It was really fun to watch her perform.

Battle of the Books WINNERS!

Kaylee is the one on the far right.  She looks so small next to
her classmate.  (They are the same age)
Kaylee signed up for the battle of the books again this year.  Her little group studied and practiced each week.  Their hard work paid off.  They WON first place in the district level.  WAY TO GO!  I will explain what this is for those who are unaware of this program.  You choose a group of 4 people to form a team.  You can name your team and decorate a sign.  Between the four of them they have to read a list of several books.  If you can all read each book, that helps your chances of winning.  Then you go into battle.  Each team goes against another team.  They are asked a series of questions and have to answer with the name of the book and it's author.  The team with the most points wins that round.  Kaylee's team..."The Chapter Chicks", were in the top teams and were able to move on to the district level.  When they competed in the district level...they won first place against all of the different schools.  I am so proud of them.  They received a medal and a gift card to Barnes and Nobles.

Our last pack meeting as Cub Masters

I was really sad to move on from being the Cub Masters in our ward.  Doug and I had served in this calling for nearly two years.  I am now serving as the Second Counselor in the Primary Presidency and Doug still continues to play the organ in sacrament meeting as well as a couple of Stake Music callings.  I will miss the Cub Scouts dearly.  It was such a fun calling.
We always tried to have a fun theme each month.  Whether it was pirates, magicians, or airline pilots...we had a REALLY fun time entertaining the boys and watching them progress through their goals.  As the second counselor I oversee the cub scouts and can still attend the committee meetings and an occasional pack meeting...so that is good.  I am really excited to serve in the primary too.  A new direction.

Backyard snapshots

The boys were playing outside in our backyard and I decided to catch a few snapshots.  The older kids
were at school.

ANOTHER Mishap for Mason

So far, Mason has been the unfortunate soul with the injuries in our family.  I think this is the fifth time we've visited the doctor this year.  Whether it's getting a bb out of his ear, stitches near his eye...OR a broken arm. He sure keeps us on our toes.

Noah Turns Two

A few days after Mason's birthday is Noah's birthday.  Since we were all caked out, we made Noah a Banana Cream Pie for his birthday.  Noah loved all of his presents and attention.

Mason's Birthday

Mason turned five!  The most memorable thing about his birthday is that we were going through the stomach flu.  Some of us were in different stages of the flu.  He was very specific about his cake.  Doug ended up making the cake and it turned out just how Mason wanted it.

50th Wedding Anniversary

My Mom and Dad celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary!  Our family planned a special surprise for them.  I was able to travel to Utah and surprise them by my visit.  My sisters were also able to go too.  The entire family all went out to a chinese restaurant and then to the church for a reception.  We had a fun slide show put together as well as a book with special letters or notes from every person in our family.  It was fun to spend time together as a family and to celebrate this awesome occasion.

Fun with Cars

We had lots of fun while Grandma Farr was visiting.  One of the activities we enjoyed was an idea I got off of Pinterest.  Just a little masking tape, some cars, paper, and lots of imagination:

Grandma had lots of fun making paper buildings and houses for our town.
We even went over the couch
The kids really didn't play with it as long as I thought they would, but it was still fun for a little while.

We also had the chance to go to the park and play while Grandma was visiting.

Lexi's 9th Birthday

We were lucky to have Grandma visiting over Lexi's birthday.  Lexi had a special birthday this year.  She opted to have a mommy daughter date.  We first went out to one of her favorite restaurants...the Golden Corral.  Then we went to see a movie and to get her ears pierced.  She said that piercing her ears hurt more than she had expected.
We had a blast together.
