S-P-E-L-L

The second graders held their annual spelling bee and Kaylee was chosen to participate. They had each second grade class choose their top 3 spellers making it a total of 12 participants. I was able to go and watch the spelling bee and Kaylee did a great job. She came in 4th place. I don't think many caught this, but the judges realized that they had been conducting the entire spelling bee with the challenge words (which were supposed to only be used when it came down to the last two participants). They didn't use the regular words at all (these were words that they were tested on throughout the year during class). I was sitting near the judges and overheard them when they realized this. I think all of the kids did a great job and I didn't mind them using the challenge words the entire time...it made the spelling bee go by quickly and all of the kids were REALLY challenged. :) There was also an awards assembly that same day. Kaylee received an academic award for receiving straight A's throughout the entire year. Jordan received 3 awards...Academic (for also getting all A's throughout the year), one in Music for participating in the Mt Charleston Choir, and one for Math...for getting 100 percent on the Math CRT (state test). Way to go kids!
Did you notice that Kaylee's hair is all wavy in the above picture? The day before was pajamas day at school and she asked me to do her hair like this:

This took a while, but the result was wavy hair the next day.

Kaylee is so smart. That was very brave to get up in front of everyone. Good job Kaylee.

Wow you've got patience! Maybe that's why I have 2 boys, so I can do their hair in 5 seconds! Cute hairstyles you do!
